Dona Bertarelli is a successful Swiss entrepreneur, philanthropist and sportswoman.
Through Ledunfly Hospitality, she is creating a collection of luxury hotels and resorts, which currently comprises three properties under operation and one project under development. Ledunfly Hospitality is part of Ledunfly, Dona Bertarelli’s family office, which manages her hospitality investments as well as other real estate and personal business interests.
Dona is also a member of the Board of Waypoint Group Holdings, which advises the funds and investments associated with the Bertarelli family in the areas of healthcare, medical technologies and asset management, including real estate.
Previously, she served as Executive Director, Public and Professional Affairs at the biotech giant Serono.
Dona Bertarelli established and co-chairs the Bertarelli Foundation, her family’s philanthropic organisation, which strives to implement real change in marine research, conservation and life sciences research. She is also a patron of the Womanity Foundation.
Dona Bertarelli is the co-founder and skipper of the Spindrift racing multihull professional sailing team, based in La Trinité-sur-Mer, in France. In 2010, at the helm of Ladycat, she became the first female skipper to win the prestigious Bol d’Or Mirabaud, a feat she repeated in 2014, and was elected Swiss Female Sailor of the year twice in a row. In 2016, she was helmsman-trimmer on Spindrift 2 during the record attempt on the Jules Verne Trophy, and as a result became the fastest woman to sail around the world.
